I have purchased Columbia hiking shoes (low and high tops) for the past 2 decades and they have always been my comfortable, reliable "go-to" hikers for trail as well as rock studded and boulder filled hikes. The hiking shoes had good Columbia tread as expected. The toe box was narrower than the other styles I was able to buy so had to get a half size up. A wide options would have worked well if that had been an option.
The real clincher that had me return them, however, was the waterproofing. Just wearing them indoors to test them out caused my feet to perspire terribly. I plan on wearing them in the summer, so they would have gotten Real sweaty and germy quickly. Too bad!! I so
would have stayed a Columbia hiking boot fan otherwise.
Maybe Columbia will return a hiker w/a wider toe box option next year!!
In the meanwhile, I will have to look for another brand this year.
