Boot reviewI have broken both ankles and my right ankle is fused. So my requirements are different than most people. But my condition has made me more aware of footwear design and construction. Having a boot that meets my needs to a tall order. Most boots have an elevated heel of 1/2" to 1". With a fused ankle, I need a lower heel closer to a 0 drop. But that is near impossible to find. So a heel that is rounded is needed to compensate for the foot rollover. These boots have a lower than average heel with a nice rounded heel making it comfortable to walk and stand. These boots are well constructed and the finish quality is really good. The outsole is well designed with good gripping power and does not hold a lot of mud. I am not particularly fond of the eyelets. They are a folded strap eyelet which makes it hard to pull the laces thru them. There is a lot of friction in them. But that isn't a deal breaker, just an aggravation. Also, these boots are made in China and the fit of the China made Rocky's don't seem to fit as good as the one's made in other places. The wide size fits more like a D width. But the insoles of these boots are pretty thick. So I put in a thinner insole and this made them fit like they should. It was an added expense. Plus, the toe box is tight across the bridge of the toes and takes a week or so to stretch them out enough to be comfortable. The thinner insoles helped this out a lot also. The out of the box comfort isn't there like it was in some of the older Rocky's. These require a little time to stretch in. Overall, with all things considered, I rate these boots a 7 out of 10. If these boots where a little wider and a little roomer across the top of the toes, I would give the a 9 out of 10. I recommend going up a half size and replacing the insoles with a thinner one if you have a wider foots. Also, Rocky has a bad habit of constantly changing their boot lineup. About 2-5 years and they are gone. Rocky will discontinue a boot and introduce something different. I really liked the Mobility Level 2 boots they use to make. It was their best platform they ever had for a boot and now they are gone. They should have kept that boot platform and improved upon the quality and durability and they would have an excellent boot for years to come.

Top Quality BootsBought these for my husband. He is a boot snob - wears boots year round and only wears top quality. He loves these boots for winter outdoors. Excellent traction. He was playing ball with the kids in these on icy snow and loved the traction. True to size.
