Pretty on top, tire treads on the bottom. One of my feet is a little shorter than the other and I got a blister on that heel, but a heal pad insert took care of it. I chose these shoes primarily because they had flowers on them-- though I was nervous about buying shoes online that I hadn't tried on. As it turns out, they are very, very comfortable and have successfully passed the "all day" test-- I can wear them all day without any trouble!
