I am starting a new job which requires me to be on my feet all day, with concrete and hardwood floors... so I figured I would "invest" in a decent pair of work shoes, as my feet tend to get sore. Not to mention I have pretty wide feet, and simply getting "Extra Wide" shoes leaves me a bit snug-footed still. But these supposedly came in EEEEExtra Wide... right? "5E?! Wow, I hope they aren't TOO wide!" I thought to myself as I placed the order. And maybe it's been too long since I have bought shoes, but I didn't think $85 was exactly "cheap", so I assumed these would be of good quality and comfort.Ehh... not exactly.I could barely get my feet in the things at first. They felt BARELY wider than the EW shoes I was currently wearing. The part on top of your foot, about 2 inches back from the toes (Dorsal area, I think its called?) was squeezed tighter than a can of biscuit dough. Needless to say I was sooo dissapointed. I spent nearly $100 on these shoes, I'm 9 days out from a new job, and I either have to be gimp footed through work, or wear my old beat up EW sneakers. So I did what any sane person would do in my situation. I shoved a small jar of Spaghetti Sauce into each of the shoes over night, in an attempt to stretch and break them in to a wearable condition. That barely worked... but at least I was able to get the shoes into a wearable condition. And by "wearable" I mean, I was able to postpone the crippling pain and inflammation caused by their death grip for the 8 hours it took me to suffer through the work day.Now we are a week into their use... after consistent Spaghetti Jar treatment, and what I can only assume is the involuntary bone resculpting my feet have gone through in the past week, I can manage to wear them with only mild discomfort from the width.Unfortunately, after the width stopped being a problem, I realized that the sole of the shoe doesn't offer much cushion. These are FAR from being the go-to shoes for someone on their feet all day. I would love to get some nice gel insoles to put in these... but I don't have Spaghetti Jars the appropriate size to stretch the shoes for the extra space :-(This was my first purchase from Famous Footwear, so I am trying to figure out if I should avoid buying shoes online anymore... or just stay away from this brand.P.S. If it helps, the length of the shoe was spot on to the size I ordered. March 30, 2015
